All About Hennessey

The funeral for Michael R. Meek, 72 will be at 10:00 AM Friday, August 20, 2021, at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Don Herren.

Burial will follow at Lyon Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed on the First Baptist Church Facebook and YouTube Channel.
 

Michael was born in Bridgeport, Texas on September 27, 1948, to J. C. and Frances Terrell Meek and died Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Hennessey Care Center.
 
He moved to Hennessey in 1971. He married Kay Gabriel in Hennessey on December 28, 1972.
 
Michael worked for Continental Emsco, PIC, and Seaboard Foods where he retired.  
He was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Joseph’s Men’s Club, and the American Legion. Michael served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam war. He coached peewee football and loved his garden, smoking meat, and fishing. Michael loved substitute teaching until ill health forced him to quit. He also served on the Hennessey School Board from 1995-2000.
 
He is survived by his wife Kay of the home; two sons Keith Meek and wife Christy of Hennessey, Kevin Meek and wife Ashley of Bartlesville, one sister Cynthia Herren and husband Jerry of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Reese Meek, Keaston Meek, Sutton Meek, and Ana Meek.
 
Michael was preceded in death by his parents J. C. and Frances Meek.
 
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hennessey Education Foundation or charity of donor’s choice.
