Funeral of Roy Hamilton Held Last Friday
Funeral services for Roy Alva Hamilton were held Friday afternoon at Union Chapel , northeast of Hennessey, Rev. Wallace Linton of Tryon preached the funeral service with Rev. Charles Donaghue assisting. Six members of the local Woodsmen Camp served as pall bearers. Many old friends and neighbors attended the service. Internment was was made in the Lyon Valley cemetery, across the road from the Chapel.
Relatives from out of the community attending the service were; Mr. and Mrs Walter Hamilton of Enid, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Maddux of Lovell.
Roy Alva Hamilton was born Feb. 1, 1887, at Rockport, Missouri and departed this life at his home near Hennessey, Okla. Thursday, Jan. 17, 1929, aged 41 years, 11 months, and 17 days.
He was five years of age when the family moved to Republic, Co. Kan. and sixteen when they came to Kingfisher Co. OKla. , which remained his home until his death.
He was united with Mt. Zion M E church in his sixteenth year and later with the Christian Union at Union Chapel.
He was united in marriage with Edna Millis on July 15, 1908. Two children were born to them, a boy and girl, Harold and Retha. Besides his wife Edna and two children he is survived in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Hamilton of Hennessey, one sister, Nora Maddux and one brother, Walter Hamilton, and a host of more distant relative and friends.
