Graveside services will be held for Ruth Walter, 79, of Kingfisher, Okla. at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999 at the Kingfisher Cemetery.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Walter Sowards. Burial will be at Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service in Kingfisher.
Ruth died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999 at the First Shamrock Nursing Center. Ruth was born to Frank and Marie (Cermak) Svoboda on Jan. 18, 1920 in Kingfisher. She grew up in the Kingfisher area. She married Leonard W. Walter on Jan. 14, 1943. They lived in California while he served in the military during World War II. They later lived in Oklahoma City, also lived on the Mulhall Ranch in the Mulhall, Okla. area and later moved to Marshall, Okla. They returned to Kingfisher after Leonard's father became ill to operate the family farm. After Leonard's death, Ruth remained on the farm for several years, moving into Kingfisher in 1986. She was been in failing health for the past two years.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Patricia Southan of Kingfisher; a brother, Elvin Svoboda of Kingfisher and two sisters, Erma Christian and Valeria Howard, both of Kingfisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.
Memorials may be made to the Russell-Murray Hospice in El Reno, Okla.
