Enid, OK — Cecil Nicholas Schoelen passed away on March 18, 2008, at his home in Kingfisher. He was 89 years old.

He was born February 25, 1919, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Jacob and Elizabeth Markus Schoelen. He had two brothers, Clarence and Robert, and one sister, Gladys Jouzaitis. Cecil was married to Dona Jean Brown on October 14, 1940. They celebrated 67 years of marriage. Cecil and Dona had six daughters, Barbara Smola and Cecilia Massey of Oklahoma City, Betty Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Kaye Fife of Oklahoma City, Ruth E. Crockett of Piedmont, and Janice Bako of Fairfax, VA. Sons-in law include John Massey, Herb Roberts and Elemer Bako; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Robert, and one grandson, Christopher Smola.

Cecil was a life long member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where he served on the church board, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, loved to dance and was an avid golfer.

Services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kingfisher.

The vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008.

family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Russell-Murray Hospice, 221 South Bickford, El Reno, OK 73036, for their compassionate care.
