Justin Wane Schnell was born April 27, 1997 to David and Lori Schnell at University Hospital in Oklahoma City and passed from this life on December 16, 2019 in Oklahoma City at the age of 22.

Justin was born with congenital myotonic dystrophy and was only given a 50-50 chance to survive. From the time he was born, he was a fighter and was the strongest person we all have ever known. He was an inspiration and hero to anyone who had the privilege to know him. His gentle and sweet, but feisty spirit brought smiles to his family and many friends. He would constantly amaze all his family, friends, doctors and nurses with his ability to overcome all of his obstacles. Justin would never give up and he fought to the end. He was always our “strong man.”

Justin loved going to school, being around all of his friends and teachers and proudly graduated from Lomega High School in 2015. He loved the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chicago Cubs, the Dallas Cowboys, and – depending on if it was Mom or Dad who asked him – the OU Sooners or the OSU Cowboys. He loved going to concerts and it was better if the concert was out of town so they could stay in a hotel! Justin loved playing on his IPad and watching game shows. He loved people, taking with his friends and loved spending time with his family. To know Justin was to love and admire him, and we will miss him always.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenna Schnell and De-Wane Schnell.

He is survived by his parents, David and Lori Schnell of Hitchcock; sister, Julie Schnell of Yukon; grandparents, Ralph and Doris Cross of Ringwood and Annetta Harden of Kingfisher; many aunts; uncles; cousins, and countless friends.

Justin’s family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who took care of him and all of the family and friends who stepped up to help when he was in the hospital.
