Mr. Marvin Lewis Markus, 89, retired owner of M & M Automotive Electric, died at 3:50 A.M. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Bartlesville Health & Rehab.He was preceded in death by his wife, of 69 years, Dorothy Ellen Markus on December 16, 2014, his sister, Roberta Mae (Markus) Walta and brother Kenneth Joseph Markus, all of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
Marvin was reared and received his education in Kingfisher. While in high school, he was active in FFA and was president of the Kingfisher County FFA from 1942-1943. After graduation, he volunteered into active duty in the United States Air Force and received basic training in Shephard Field, Texas. He was transferred to aerial gunnery school in Las Vegas, Nevada then on to aerial navigation school in Denver, Colorado. Then, he went to St. John's University in Minnesota for advanced 4-engine aircraft training. Marvin was assigned to an aircraft bombing crew in Tampa, Florida. His combat duty was based at Horham airfield in England. His duties included master bombardier, relief operator navigator and co-pilot. He had 28 full bombing runs. After the surrender of Germany, he flew many mercy food drops over Holland and France. He returned to the United States and received his Honorable Discharge.
On July 19, 1945
Marvin married Dorothy Ellen O'Niel of Kingfisher,
Oklahoma. After 6 years of automotive parts and service
training in Kingfisher and Enid, Oklahoma, he moved to
Bartlesville in 1951. He assumed original ownership and
Management of M & M Automotive. During this time he
extended automotive branches in Dewey, Caney and
Independence, Kansas. He retired as of March 31, 2003.
Marvin was an active member of Bartlesville Chamber of
Commerce. He was chairman of Washington County Cancer
Society for 2 years. Marvin was a charter member of the
Automotive Wholesalers of Oklahoma and served as active
president for 2 years and National Director for 3 years.
Marvin has been an active member of St. John's Catholic
Church since 1951.
He is survived by his son, Gary Markus and wife Linda of
Rocky Mount, Missouri, daughter, Marsha (Markus) Smith
and husband, Stephen, Ft. Worth, Texas, four
grandchildren, Craig Markus and wife Barbara, Columbus,
Ohio, Amanda Seaberg and husband John, Houston, Texas,
Stephanie Van De Kieft and husband, Stephen, Ft. Worth,
Texas, Erik Smith and wife Cierra, Tulsa, Oklahoma, nine
great grandchildren, Tyler Markus, Abigail and Madeline
Seaberg, Victoria, Gerrit and Ella Van De Kieft, Briea,
Alayna and Kailyn Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass for Mr. Markus will be held at 10:30
A.M. on Thursday at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic
Church in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the
Kingfisher County Memorial Cemetery where full military
rites will be accorded by the Kingfisher American Legion
Post # 5.
Funeral services and interment are under the
direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Funeral Home from 9 AM until 9 PM on Tuesday and
Wednesday.
