Bill Hubbard

Bill Hubbard was born June 16, 1927, in Kingfisher, Okla., the son of Harold and Ruth Hubbard and died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He worked at the local newspaper during his high school days, then attended A&M College at Stillwate, OK. He purchased the Carmen Headlight Newspaper in Alfalfa County, OK. and operated it for 10 years, also publishing the Helena Star newspaper the latter part of that period.
While there, he met and married Doris Mae Pennington in 1957. To that union were born a daughter, Debbie, and a son, Bill Brian.
He worked at a number of other newspapers and also attended the university at Weatherford. Then he and Doris purchased Times Printing Company in Kingfisher. They consolidated it with Kingfisher Office Supply in 1963 to form Central Supply and operated that business until 1993. He had been employed there since.
Bill joined the Federated Church in Kingfisher as a youth. His civic activities here have included C of C board member, Rotary Club secretary, County Red Cross director, County Poultry Association leader, etc.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, and daughter, Debbie, of the home; a son, Bill Brian and his wife Karen of St. Louis, Mo.; and by Jim and Mary McCormick and children, Anna, Luke and Nora Grace, of Detroit, Mich.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the Federated Church with pastor Charles Smith officiating. Internment will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service. (Paid Obit 12-24-1)
