Anton Elbert Goodwin PhD, resident of Ponca City passed away Wednesday April 21, 2021. He was 85. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

Anton was born November 16, 1935, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Anton Eble Goodwin and Mary Lucile Kordis Goodwin.

Anton received a B.A. degree in chemistry and math from Phillips University in 1958. A masters and doctors degree of analytical chemistry from Oklahoma state University in 1963.

He joined Continental Oil Company in the refining department laboratory in Ponca City as analytical chemist. He transferred in 1966 to Conoco's Lake Charles refinery where he was a senior analytical chemist for 2 1/2 years. He returned to Ponca City and joined Continental Oil Company's research and developmental department as an associate research scientist. He retired in 1983.

Anton loved to travel. He also enjoyed genealogy and being a glider pilot.

Anton was married to Betty Jean Fackler for 56 years and she survives. Also survived by are a nephew, Charles Z Hanus Jr., brother-in-law Charles Zartman Hanus Sr., and very special cousins. 
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Emma Ruth Hanus. 
 
Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601. 
 
Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
