Virgil Wayne George passed away on Monday, May 24th, 2021.

He was born November 16th, 1942 to Audra and Bernice George in Harper, Kansas. On September 14th, 1975 he was married to Connie Sue Mendell in Loyal, Oklahoma.


Virgil is survived by his wife Connie of 45 years, son Keelan and wife Billie of Tucson Arizona, son Kameron and wife Chelce from Cashion. Grandchildren Kade, Keelie, Kallie of Tucson and Korbin, Linnea, and Kamiyah of Cashion. Brother Charles George and wife Retha, sister Donna Torres and husband Joe, and Judy Schimpf and husband Dale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl and Merle, sisters Evelyn, Nadine, and Aline.


Virgil graduated high school from Harper, Kansas and from Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelors and master’s degree in history education. He started his teaching career at Taloga High School and retired from Watonga High School after 34 years in education. After retirement he instructed at Eagle Academy for several years.
 

Virgil enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, yard work, and reading. For many years at Watonga High School, he was junior class sponsor, organizing homecoming and hall decorating, football concessions, and many junior/senior proms. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Wilkinson Funeral home will be handling the arrangements. Pastor Diana Matli will be officiating.

Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday May 28th at the United Methodist Church, 420 N Weigle Ave, Watonga Oklahoma 73772.

Burial will follow at Kingfisher Cemetery, 14200 SH-33, Kingfisher Oklahoma, 73750.
