JANET [GREER] COLEMAN Obit

Janet Greer Coleman was born April 8, 1914, to Vancil K. Greer and Hetta Carroll Greer in Lincoln, Nebraska. She died on July 15, 2005, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
After graduating from high school in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Janet attended the University of Oklahoma where she received a degree in Library Science.
Janet was "Aggie" Librarian at Oklahoma A&M College where she met fellow faculty member Samuel D. Coleman whom she married on January 9, 1937, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
After World War II, Janet and her husband moved to Chicago where she was employed by World Book Encyclopedia, a division of Field Enterprises. After retiring from World Book they moved to Wisconsin, residing at what they called their "recreational farm." In the late 1970s they moved to the retirement community of Green Valley, Arizona. After her husband's death in 1998, Janet moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma to be close to her sister.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Sam, and brothers Vancil K. Greer II and Dr. Allen E. Greer.
She is survived her sister, Carroll Greer Van Dyck of Chickasha, Oklahoma; nephew, Charles Douglas Van Dyck III, and wife Sandra of Great Falls, Montana; nephew, Richard Greer Van Dyck and wife Cindi of Chickasha, Oklahoma; nephew, Allen E. Greer, Jr.; niece, Pamela Greer; niece, Janet Greer Streick; and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews.
No local services will be held. Graveside memorial service will be held at the Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Oklahoma at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
