ENID, Okla. — Betty Lu Branscum was born April 3, 1933, to Lewis and Louise Bamberg in Kingfisher, Okla. She went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Betty married Hugh Branscum Nov. 15, 1956. They established a home and farmed in the Big 4 community.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, playing cards, sewing and visiting with friends.

Due to a recent illness, Betty had spent three months in Cimarron Nursing Center and always enjoyed visiting the employees and friends that she had made while there. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kingfisher, County Republican Women, Altrua Club, Methodist Ladies Circle and Book Review Club. She also enjoyed her Stitch and Sew, Canasta, and Monday Morning Coffee groups.

Betty was proud of her community and would reminisce about the acts of kindness shown to her when she was in the nursing home. She enjoyed her Regency Court neighborhood and all the residents there.

Betty is survived by her husband, Hugh; daughters, Kathy and Dan Gilliland of Enid, and Linda and Tim Wallace of Kingfisher; grandchildren, Kyle and Briana Wallace of Guthrie, Drew and Haley Wallace of Tulsa, Seth Wallace of Beaver, Amy Gilliland of Stillwater, and Abby Gilliland of Enid; and brother, Charles Bamberg of Kingfisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Carol Diane.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Kingfisher. Arrangements by Sanders Funeral Service Inc., Kingfisher.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be sent to the Salvation Army, via the Methodist Church, or Altrua Club for the Chisholm Trail Museum.
