The funeral for Barbara “Dale” (McWhorter) Scruggs, 71 will be at 10:00 AM Thursday October 31, 2019 at First Baptist Church officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile.

Burial will follow at Hennessey cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Wednesday October 30, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM.

Dale was born in Arab, Alabama on Sept. 29, 1948 to Willard Edward and Mary Edith Smith McWhorter and died Sunday October 27, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Kingfisher.

Dale was Baptized at First Baptist Church in Hennessey. She worked at Exxon Gas Plant for over thirty years. She enjoyed crafting, guitar, softball, flying and flight school, gardening, and baking.
 

She is survived by two daughters Melisa Arnold and husband Ed of New Cambria, Kansas, Janelle Tucker and husband Trae of Piedmont; one son Daren Scruggs of Hennessey; two grandchildren Boston Tucker and Addison Tucker; three brothers Ted McWhorter of Temecula, California, Steve McWhorter of Huntsville, Alabama, Sidney McWhorter of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two sisters Carolyn Jo Bryant and husband Eddie of Albertville, Alabama, Deborah Jo Purvis and husband Mark of San Antonio, Texas.


Dale was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Phillip McWhorter, Stanley McWhorter, Anthony McWhorter; and her longtime love Willie Luber.
