A memorial service for Harry Marland Minton, 82, of Canton, Texas, will be 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, Canton. The Revs. Don Childress and Charles Richardson will officiate. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hennessey Cemetery, Hennessey. The Rev. Narrah Howard will officiate. Arrangements are by Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, Texas.

He was born Feb. 1, 1923, at Hennessey to Harry Wallace and Rita Baines Minton and died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Tyler, Texas.

He grew up in Hennessey and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he attended Oklahoma State and later entered the oil exploration business. In 1962, he made Canton his family's home. He retired from Bendix United Geophysical in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Canton, serving as a deacon, and worked for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Minton of the home, one daughter, Marla Warren of Cedar Park, Texas; two sons, Paul Minton of Oklahoma City and Gregory Minton of Mustang; three brothers, Max Minton of Ft. Worth, Texas, Richard B. Minton of Mesquite, Nev., and Haden Minton of Midland, Texas; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
