The funeral for Erma L. McGee, 89, will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the First Christian Church of Hennessey, officiated by Rev. Ish Engle.

Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Erma was born in Hennessey on May 21, 1932, to Fred and Charolette (Shaw) Schutkesting, and died at the Hennessey Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, September 9, 2021, surrounded by family. 


She married Jack McGee in Hennessey on June 30, 1952. Erma was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother and always had kind words and a smile for those she met. She enjoyed sewing clothes and quilts for family, reading, and meeting friends for cokes at the quick stop. She spent numerous years volunteering at Dover Public Schools and was a reading buddy at Hennessey Public Schools. She was also a member of the Farmerettes and the First Baptist Church. During her time in the nursing home, she enjoyed keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook and commenting kind words and gifs on their posts.

Erma is survived by two sons, Patrick McGee and his wife Margaret of Bison, Mike McGee and wife Sonya of Hennessey; five grandchildren, Jackie Lease, D.J. McGee, and wife Allie, Levi McGee and wife Gretchen, Amber McGee, and Mason McGee; seven great-grandchildren, Adyson and Cooper Lease, Brianna, Marie, Kaydance, and Mackenzie McGee, and Jack McGee; two sisters, Nettie Racer and husband Bennie, and Marilyn Smith and husband Jerry, and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was proceeded in death by her husband Jack, son John, two sisters Johanna and Pattie, and two brothers Fred and Bill. 

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Friends of the Library or Hennessey Senior Citizens Center with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
