Martha A. Hickman, nee Crook, was born at Rob Roy , Indiana May 2, 1837. She moved to Illinois with her parents at an early age, where she lived until 1896 , moving to Lacy Oklahoma.  In 1857 she was united with Henry S. Hickman with whom she lived for 50 years lacking just one month, to this union five boys were born, two dying in childhood the other three Louia, Logan and Lyman surviving her.    In 1870 she joined the Christian Church in which she has been a strong worker ever since.  She was also a member of the WCTU and the WRC. 

She has been living with her sons lately dying at the home of Logan D. Hickman, Wichita Kansas, March 19, 1911.

Her body was brought to Hennessey where it was laid at rest by the side of her husband.
