October 1985

Hennessey – Vernia L. Goodpasture, 88, died Wednesday afternoon, October 2, 1985 at an Enid hospital after a short illness. Services will be 2:30 PM Friday at the United Methodist Church in Hennessey. The Revs Duane Roever and Vida Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at the Hennessey Cemetery under direction of Cordry and Son Funeral Home.

The casket will remain closed after the service.

Goodpasture was born January 28, 1897, in Center, Missouri, and moved with his parents in the spring of 1901 to the state of Oklahoma, settling on a farm northwest of Hennessey. He lived most of his life in that area and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

On November 8, 1922, he and Elsie Summers were married in Enid.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; two sons, Laroy Goodpasture, Waukomis, and Kenneth Goodpasture, Cashion; 12 grandchildren; 24 great – grandchildren; three brothers, D. L. Goodpasture, Hennessey, and Glen and Leland Goodpasture, both of Enid; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Albright, Celia McGinnes, both of Hennessey, and Mrs. Marvin Milton, Harrah.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
