The funeral for Blanche Elizabeth Buford, 91, will be at 10 AM Monday, December 31, 2001 at 132 Bible Church, officiated by Danny Mamey and L. D. Choate. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry – Gritz Funeral Home.

Blanche was born southeast of Ames on September 27, 1910 to Samuel and Cora DeWitt McGinnis and died Thursday, December 27, 2001 at her home. She was a graduate of Lacy high school. On March 27, 1934, she married her high school sweetheart, Orin James Buford. They settled on a farm near where they both grew up.

She was a member of the Lacy Methodist Church where she taught a children's Sunday school class. She spent her entire life within 2 miles of where she was born. Her home, family, pets and flowers or her life.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Orin; two sons, James Robert and wife Dorothy of Ames, H. Clay and wife Mary Beth of Enid; four grandchildren, Robert and wife Sherry of Ames, Tammy Buford of Newalla, Travis and wife Stacy of Germany and Sarah Owen and husband Steve of England. She also leaves five great – granddaughters and one great – grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lee and Dwight.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Ames Fire Department or the Hennessey Public Library.
