Final rites were held at 10 am, Saturday in the First United Methodist Church, Blackwell, OK. with Rev. Raymond Cooley officiating. Burial was held at 2 pm, Saturday in the Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Blackwell.

Mrs. Bryant was born May 6, 1904 in Hennessey and died Tuesday night in Blackwell General Hospital after suffering a heart attack at her home. She graduated from Hennessey High School in 1922 and attended Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, receiving her degree in music education in 1926. She first taught at Kiowa, Ks. and on June 5, 1927 married Harold L. Bryant in Hennessey. They settled in Burton, Ks. and both taught school. After a years stay in Sterling, Ks. 1930 and 31, they moved to Liberal, Ks., living there til 1934. Other moves were to Enid and Chickasha before transferring to Blackwell in 1937. It was in 1946 that Mrs. Bryant began a long career in the Blackwell public school system. She devoted outside activities to music as well as being accompanist to the Kiwanis Club for many years and directing the community's Easter Sunrise Service music, in addition to working with civic music and graciously accepting countless requests to serve as accompanist for community events and functions. Upon retiring from the Blackwell school system in 1968 after teaching there 22 years, Mrs. Bryant concluded a career in music education spanning 42 years. She was a member of Oklahoma Education Association and NEA.

In addition to her husband Harold of the home, 801 W. Bridge, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Jan) McRee of Eaton Rapids, MI; a son, John Bryant of OKC; 5 grandchildren, and 1 sister, Mary Frakes of Enid. Two memorials in her name have been established to continue music education. Anyone so desiring, may contribute to the Maude Bryant Award through the funeral home or Security Bank & Trust or to the Hand BellChoir Fund at the First United Methodist Church.
