Barbara Anne Leitner was born July 6, 1940, to William Herbert Rigby and Elizabeth Stewart in Plainview, Texas, and was called home on Aug. 1, 2022, in Kingfisher with loved ones by her side.

Barbara married Garol Ray Leitner on Dec. 17, 1962, in Lockey, Texas, and over a year later they started their family in Kingfisher.

For many years, Barbara worked as a dietary manager for a local nursing home, First Shamrock, where she expressed her love for the residents through delicious food, wonderful pastries and her famous homemade pies.

At home, her kitchen was never closed as she enjoyed sharing her recipes with her children and grandchildren and making dishes and desserts for their various school functions.

Barbara was a woman who stood firm in what she believed in and it is from her that her family learned to stay strong.

But she was much more than a strong figure; she was a woman full of love.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Garol Ray Leitner; parents, William Rigby and Elizabeth Stewart; and two sisters, Mary and June.

She is survived by her daughter Tonda Woodard and husband Rick of Osage City, Kan.; daughter Sonda Mitchell and partner Don Vogt of Kingfisher; grandson Jonathan Mitchell and wife Melanie of Cashion; granddaughter Rachelle Mitchell of Kingfisher; sister-in-law Karen McKinley of Edmond; sister, Beth; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Sanders Funeral Service, 124 E. Broadway Ave., Kingfisher, at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8.
