On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Donald L. Jones, loving husband and father to three boys, peacefully passed away at 81 years old.
Don was born on Oct. 15, 1940, in Council Grove, Kansas, to Herbert and Gladys (Campmier) Jones.
He asked Rojean Ann Beeman, his high school sweetheart, to marry him without telling her he had already enlisted in the USAF. They married on June 25, 1958, and began their adventure.
They soon had three boys, Mike, Rick and Brian, who joined the adventure as they moved around the United States and Europe. Don worked as an aircraft mechanic from 1958 to 1979 and retired From the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Don had several hobbies that he enjoyed, but the hobby that everyone enjoyed was his passion for BBQ. He spent many hours perfecting his ribs, chicken, anything BBQ. And if you knew Don you probably had a chance to taste his cooking. If you never tasted his secret BBQ rub, his family would like to share it with you.
Don Jones Secret BBQ Rub: ¼ cup brown sugar, ½ cup paprika, 1 Tbsp black pepper, 1 Tbsp garlic powder, 1Tbsp onion powder, 2 Tbsp kosher salt, 1 Tbsp chili powder, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp ground cumin, 2 tsp ground oregano, ½ cup turbinado sugar. Enjoy!

Don was preceded in death by his son, Mike. He is survived by his wife Jean; his two sons, Rick and Brian; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Dover Cemetery, Dover, Oklahoma, at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.
