Into the Loving Arms of His Lord and Savior flew the spirit of James P. Swyden on Oct 30th.

Left to rejoice in his memory are his wife of 65 years, Roberta; daughter Janie Schuppel (Peter); son Timothy Swyden (Sherrie); grandchildren, Keri Johnson, Jonathan Schuppel (Sunshine), Mary Crouch (John), David Swyden (Charli) and Diana Dunlap (Chris); and 5 great - grandchildren.

James was a barber and a student of New Testament Greek.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, November 1, 2013 at Buchanan Funeral Service with services to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel with interment to follow at Cashion Cemetery in Cashion, OK.

Tuesday, January 12, 2021, Roberta Swyden left our presence, and the angels delivered her soul to heaven to be with Jesus. She is now reunited with her husband of 65 years, James, and her parents.

She is the mother of Janie Schuppel (Peter) and Timothy Swyden (Sherrie). She leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Jonathan Schuppel (Sunshine), Keri Swyden, Mary Crouch (John), David Swyden (Charli), and Diana Dunlap (Christopher); and 8 great-grandchildren: Ezekiel Schuppel, Gideon Schuppel, Ava Crouch, Ella Crouch, Noah Crouch, Ian Dunlap, Eli Dunlap, and Samuel Swyden. She also leaves behind her brother, Chester Archie Cotton and her two sisters, Kay Haggard (Jim), and Lenora Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Swyden, and her parents, Noah and Verde Cotton.

Jim and Roberta were married April 12th, 1948. After Bible College, Jim and Roberta served rural churches for several years before returning to the Bethany area where Jim worked as a barber and Roberta as a beautician. Roberta worked as a beautician for over 40 years gaining many dear friends. Roberta was a church pianist and organist for many years. They retired to the Cashion area to enjoy their animals; sheep, cats, dogs, and cattle. They also enjoyed gardening and wood working. Roberta was also a quilter and seamstress making things for her grandchildren and friends. Roberta will be remembered by many for her friendship and acts of kindness. It was her intent to live a life pleasing to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
 

Viewing will be Monday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany.

Interment will be at the Cashion Cemetery.

A lunch will be served at 13383 S. County Line Road, Cashion, following the funeral.
