Curtis moved to Hennessey in 1960 where he attended school and spent his summers as a roustabout and well service rig hand before graduating from Hennessey High School in 1970. He was truly a jack of all trades and enjoyed working a variety of jobs through his life including brick mason, oil field driller/tool pusher, and finally retiring after serving as Hennessey Director of Public Works for 15 years.

Curtis was a charismatic individual who never met a stranger. He had an infectious smile and witty personality. He enjoyed mastering skills such as cooking, fishing, and wine-making.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny Turner, and one child.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra; daughter Tracy Turner of Norman; son Travis Turner of Norman; son Tyler Turner, M.D., and wife Halen Turner, M.D., of Milwaukee; one sister, Kathy Hodges, of Enid; as well as many other extended family members.

He left a lasting impression and will be missed by many. He may be gone but will never be forgotten.
