Galen Wayne Propper, long time resident of Tonkawa, OK, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Blackwell, OK. He was 71.

Galen was born on August 19, 1942 to Lydia (Faye) Propper in Blackwell, OK. Galen was a graduate of Blackwell High School. Galen was enlisted in the US Army and is a veteran of the Korean War.

In 1976 he met Linda Street and on July 8, 1977 they were married, they made their home in Tonkawa and raised three children, he was a reputable freelance sheet rocker and painter. Galen enjoyed bingo date nights with his beloved Linda and has mourned her death since her untimely passing in 1997. Galen loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his brother's Allen Barber and wife Anita of Midlothian, TX., Jerry Arnold of Bartlesville, OK.; sister-in-law's Barbara Cottle of Blackwell, Virginia Combrink of Ponca City; brother-in-law, Willie Street Sr. of Tonkawa; his daughter Christine Baker and husband Don of Tonkawa; two sons Gabriel Propper of Tonkawa and Michael Propper also of Tonkawa; grandchildren Jeremy Combrink and wife Mary of Tonkawa, Citabria Baker, Gabrielle Propper and Evan Propper of Tonkawa; great grandchildren Donnie, Kaylynn, Addison and Noelani Combrink all of Tonkawa.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lydia (Faye) Cottle and Father Omer Cottle, Cherished wife Linda Propper, brother, Albert Cottle and brother-in-law, Anthony Street, great grandson Maximus Combrink and two uncles Cecil and Vernon Propper.

Galen was loved by all and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Prayer services will be held at 7pm, Tuesday August 5, at the Tonkawa Tribal Gymnasium.

The traditional noon feast will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Tonkawa Tribal Gymnasium with the funeral service to follow. Burial will then follow at Tonkawa Tribal Cemetery in Tonkawa, OK 74653. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Jeffery Thompson, Lawrence Tah, Floyd Allen, David Martin, Scott Stout, and Charles Allen

Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

BLACKWELL - Linda Diane Propper of Tonkawa, Okla., died early Sunday morning, Aug. 31, 1997, at her home in Tonkawa. She was 51.

Evening prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, in the Tonkawa Tribal Day Care Building at Fort Oakland with the Rev. Joe Burger, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tonkawa, leading. Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept., 3, 1997, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Tonkawa with the Rev. Mr. Burger as celebrant. The traditional Indian feast will be at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, in the Tonkawa Tribal Day Care Building at Fort Oakland. Burial will be in Tonkawa Indian Cemetery, Fort Oakland under direction of Roberts & Son Funeral Home, Blackwell.

Casket bearers will be Charles Allen, Felix D. Allen, Thomas Stout, T.J. Martin, David Martin and Floyd Allen. Honorary bearers will be Matt Ackers and Justin Davis.

Linda Diane Propper was born on Sept. 21, 1945, in Ponca City, Okla., the daughter of Jesse William and Naomi Ruby (Allen) Street. She grew up in Tonkawa, Okla., and attended Pawnee Indian School, St. Joseph's Catholic School, and Tonkawa Public School. Following her schooling, she began working for Southwest Cupid.

She and Galen Wayne Propper were married on July 9, 1977, in Tonkawa, Okla. and made their home in Tonkawa. She continued working at Southwest Cupid until 1983, when she became manager of the Fort Oakland Trading Post, working there until ill health forced her retirement.

She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Tonkawa.

Surviving are her husband, Galen Wayne Propper of the Tonkawa home; one daughter, Christine Townsend Baker of Ponca City; two sons, Gabriel Wayne Propper and Michael Dewayne Propper, both of Tonkawa; a sister, Virginia Combrink Swanson of Ponca City; two brothers, Anthony Street and Willie J. Street, both of Tonkawa; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Monte Combrink.

Visitation will be at the Tonkawa Tribal Day Care Building at Fort Oakland.
