Brian Keith FORD

Tonkawa Indian Cemetery

Brian Keith Ford
August 30, 1956 - April 27, 2025

Brian K. Ford, 68, longtime resident of Kay County, departed from this life for his heavenly home on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the home of his beloved mother. A celebration of life for Brian will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Tonkawa Tribal Gym, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with his son-in-law, Daniel Sherron, officiating. Brian will then be laid to rest in the Fort Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Brian was born August 30, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to parents, Arthur C. Ford and Kathryn (Kat) Ford-Cheatham. He was reared in Oklahoma City and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davis.

In 1989, Brian met Loretta (Genie) Martin in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. They made their home together in the Fort Oakland community and welcomed two daughters: Keisha Breann in 1991, and Dezarae Shantel in 2001. Brian was a doting father, always making sure his daughters were dressed to perfection, hair fixed, and clothes ironed. He was a "girl dad" long before the term became popular.

Brian was a man of many talents. He was an excellent chef, working many years at the Ponca City Country Club, DeWayne's BBQ, and later the American Legion. One of his favorite jobs came with his many years spent as the Assistant Manager at the formerly known, Miller's Market, on South Avenue. Later, he was also employed at the Ponca City Housing Authority as a Maintenance Man.

Brian's infectious personality and big smile are the enduring memories people will share for years to come. He was mild mannered, polite, and never met a stranger. He loved being around his children and grandchildren, watching sports, sitting on the porch, and taking a cruise through the Tonkawa village. The simple things in life mattered most to Brian.

Brian was preceded in death by: his father, Arthur Ford; his grandparents, Frank and Louise Davis; his nephew, Tramon Johnson; and daughter, Deedra Coleman.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory are: his two daughters, Keisha Sherron and Dezarae Ford; step-father and mother, Clinton and Kathryn Cheatham; siblings, Yvetta Hicks, Glenda Diane Ford, Valarie Thompson-Miller, and Nickie Moore. Brian's legacy is grounded in his five grandsons: Martin Blueback IV, Isaac K. Blueback, Quincy Sherron, Easton "Juju" Sherron, and Kaiston GoodEagle. Brian is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, too many to mention.

Casket Bearers for the service will be Martin Blueback IV, Isaac Blueback, Quincy Sherron, Kayson Thompson, Dustin Epperson, and Benjamin GoodEagle. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nickie Moore, Antajuan Brown, Stephen Martin, Michael Martin, David Martin, Chris Bradshaw, and Shytun Davis.

The family wishes to thank the Tonkawa Tribe for the hospitality being shown to their loved one during this difficult time.
