J.C. Fath entered into eternal life on January 3, 2020. He was born the son of John C. and Eunice B. Fath on July 31, 1941, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. J.C. grew up on a farm north of Tonkawa attended Tonkawa Public Schools graduating with the class of 1959. He graduated from Northern Oklahoma Junior College and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1963. While at O.S.U. he was a member of the Block and Bridle Club and was on the land judging team.

While attending NOC he met Myrna Wilkins of Blackwell. After his graduation from OSU, they were married on June 1, 1963 and to this marriage was born a son, Dale Conrad. The family was actively involved in growing, processing, and selling seed wheat as well as raising cattle. J.C. served two terms on the Tonkawa Board of Education, served on the parish council of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was past President of the Oklahoma Crop Improvement Association at OSU. He also received the Western Kay County Award of Merit and the Range Management Conservation Award. Other memberships included the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association and the Blackwell Elk’s Lodge.

“Grandpa’s” wish was to be involved in and supporting whatever the grandchildren were participating in. J.C. especially enjoyed taking summer vacations with Blaine and Hailey on the Amtrak to Ft. Worth when they were smaller, to St. Louis to see the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses, and their favorite, Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas.

J.C. is survived by his wife Myrna, their son, Dale, Misty, and grandchildren, Blaine Conrad Fath and Hailey Elizabeth Fath. Other survivors include his sister, Mary Lou Fath of Tonkawa; sister-in-law, Velma Mitchell of Winfield, Kansas, and brother-in-law Clifford and Dolores Wilkins of Blackwell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tonkawa Thursday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Tonkawa.

Casketbearers will be Jesse Williams, Jake Pierce, Travis Jones, Casey Kreger, Todd Wyckoff and Eddie Brown. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Calvin Crumrine, Joe Kreger, Ron Appleman, Darrel Brown, David Young and Kenneth Vogt.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Building Fund, P.O. Box 525, Tonkawa, Oklahoma 74653. Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Blackwell.
