Nora Carr Dies, Came to Tonkawa Vicinity in 1901
TONKAWA--Nora Carr, resident of the Tonkawa area for more tha 70 years, died Monday in Highland Nursing Center, Ponca City. She was 90.
Born Oct 24, 1886, in Bloomfull, Iowa, she came to the Tonkawa vicinity in 1901 and had lived there since, except for a short time in Iowa. She was a member of the Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving her are a daughter, Claudine Gurley of Houston; two granddaughters, Jackie B. Gurley, Houston, and Gerrie Lynn Anderson, Tulsa; one grandson, Karl Keith Carr, Tonkawa; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, in 1965, a son Keith, three sisters and a brother.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Tonkawa Odd Fellows Cemetery under direction of McCafferty-Bolick Funeral Home.
