Marcus Francis "Marc" Roggenbuck, age 86, resident of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in Ponca City.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, June 15 from 4-8pm and from 1-8pm Sunday, June 16, 2019. A vigil will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 17, 2019 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church with officiating. Following the mass, Marcus will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Marcus was born on November 27, 1932 to Joseph Roggenbuck and Mary Roggenbuck in Crary, ND. As a young man, he worked on his father's ranch while attending high school. Then, Marcus attended St. Thomas University in Minneapolis where he received a bachelor's degree with a major in English Literature. In 1955, Marcus enlisted in the United states Air Force. While in the air force he met and married the love of his life Lydia H. Poehlsin in Waco, TX. During his time in the Air Force Marcus was stationed in Japan, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, and New Mexico. His career came to an end with his retirement as Headquarter Squadron Commander of Holloman Air Force Base in 1975.
Following Marc's service to our country, He moved the family to Ponca City in 1976 to lead the local Social Security Office, but was later transferred to Guymon, OK where he traveled back and forth between the communities. When Marc wasn't hard at work, he was an avid fisherman. As well, reading and spending time with his beloved family were some of his enjoyed pastimes. St. Mary's Church and the Knights of Columbus were graced by Marc's membership and service through the years. He will be missed by those he knew and loved.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Roggenbuck of the home, daughter, Catherine Greenwood of Ft. Worth, TX, son, Chris Roggenbuck of Ponca City, grandchildren, Cody Roggenbuck of Denver, CO, as well as Gannon and Nicole Greenwood of Ft. Worth, TX.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Roggenbuck, as well as his sisters Mary Anne Roggenbuck and Betty Miller.
