Kenneth A. Jackson, longtime Ponca City teacher and coach passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Wichita, KS with family by his side. He was 77 years of age. Kenneth was born April 1, 1940 in Tulsa, OK to Ewing and Bonnie Provorse Jackson. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the St Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink and Rev Jim Lewellen officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery Section of I.O.O.F. in Ponca City, OK. Visitation will be held Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family in attendance from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to receive friends. Memorial contributions may be made to The Ponca City Noon AMBUCS for the Special Olympics contributions may be left with Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK. Casket bearers will be Lester Freeman, Rusty Benson, Dan McGregor, Jim Armstrong, Brad Larimer, Dennis Lebeda. Honorary casket bearers will be Steve Larimer, Grant Hodges and John Maddox.

Kenneth grew up in Ponca City and attended the Ponca City school system graduating in 1958. He attended SMU and Southwestern University of Texas then he transferred to Oklahoma State University and completed his Bachelor and Masters in Education. He met the love of his life Doretta L. Spielbusch Jackson and they were married on June 23, 1971 and made their home in Ponca City. Kenneth started his teaching career in Drumright, OK in 1972 and later transferred to Newkirk high and then East Junior High in Ponca City. He taught English, Geography, Social Studies and coached Golf, Wrestling, Football and Basketball. Kenneth enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, playing Golf, fishing, playing cards, bowling and travelling with his wife. Kenneth was also president of the retired educators of Kay county for 2 years.

Survivors include his wife Doretta of 46 years of the home, 2 sons: Brian Jackson and wife Amy Sikes, Jay Jackson all of Ponca City, OK. 1 daughter: Lisa Stanbery and husband Jackie of Broken Arrow, OK. Kenneth also had 3 children from a former marriage all of Texas; Laura, David & Cheryl. 2 sisters: Joyce Ney of Pryor, OK. Mae Beth Wilson and husband Chris of Stroud, OK 1 brother: Ewing Roy Jackson and wife Linda of Tulsa, OK 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Jerry Jackson and Bernie Jackson.
