Douglas Melvin Wilson, age 80, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away December 20, 2020 at Alliance Health in Ponca City. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Resthaven Memorial Park the with Rev. Mark Busch officiating.

Doug Wilson was born on July 25, 1940 in Ponca City to Fred and Willie (Young) Wilson. He attended Ponca City High School and Oklahoma State University. He married Judith Ann Fisher on June 2, 1961. Doug was a lifelong wrestler, coach, and wrestling fan. As a wrestler, Doug was a state champion and a 2 time all American for Oklahoma State University. Doug then coached at Ponca City High School for over a decade. He enjoyed watching his sons and his grandkids wrestle and always attended Ponca City and Oklahoma State duals. Doug was also a lifelong farmer growing up on a farm south of Ponca City where he farmed his entire life. Every year after harvest ended, he would take his wife and kids on road trips through national parks and to see the country. When asked why he continued to farm when most people would retire, he responded “what else would I do?”. He worked hard his entire life, and later in life also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and traveling the world with Linda. “I inherited that calm from my father, who was a farmer. You sow, you wait for good or bad weather, you harvest, but working is something you always need to do.”- Miguel Indurain.

He is survived by his constant companion, Linda Boyd, his three sons: Eric and wife Shelley Wilson, Jodie and wife Andrea Wilson, Cory and wife Tressa Wilson; Grandchildren: Gatlin Wilson, Cason Wilson, Molly Wilson, Colter Wilson, Wiley Wilson, and Aubrey Wilson; Brothers: Shelby and his wife Gretchen Wilson, and Steve Wilson, Steve and Dorena Fisher, and Dee Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews

Preceding in death were his parents; Fred and Willie Wilson, wife Judy Wilson, sister Clara Wilkerson and her husband Don Wilkerson, brother in law Larry Fisher, nephew Brent Wilson and niece Stacy Cloud.

Casket bearers will be Eric Wilson, Jodie Wilson, Cory Wilson, Gatlin Wilson, Cason Wilson, Colter Wilson, Wiley Wilson, and Brent Wilson. Honorary Casket bearers will be David Fisher, Jared Fisher, and Lane Fisher.
