Donna M. Thorpe, a longtime resident of Ponca City for 65 years, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 in Pasadena, Texas. She was 92 years old. A graveside ceremony for Donna will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Donna Mae Ellen Thomas was born on October 5, 1925 to the late John L. Thomas and the late Leta Mae Arnhart Thomas of Augusta, Kansas. After graduating from Ponca City High School in 1942, she went to work at Darr School of Aeronautics during World War II. Subsequently Donna trained and received her Pilot’s License at the Ponca City Regional Airport. She married Jack L. Thorpe on May 20, 1945 in Arkansas City, Kansas. Jack and Donna were four days away from their 66th Wedding Anniversary when Jack passed away in 2011. Donna worked for Conoco for 25 years and retired as the principal Administrative Assistant for the Maintenance Engineering Department in 1984. She enjoyed a long retirement gardening, traveling, and volunteering at the Caboose, a local thrift and charity store in Ponca City. Donna was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Ponca City and served in numerous volunteer capacities for many years. She also was very active in the Cub Scouts of America organization thru the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, serving as a Den Mother.

Donna is survived by one son, Bill Thorpe and his wife Patti of Pasadena, Texas and sister-in-law, Dolores Thomas of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, her son, James Robert Thorpe, and her brother, Robert L. Thomas.
