Viola Oaks Tewell

Viola Tewell went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 11th 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. She was 92years and 51 weeks old.

Viola was born April 18th 1917 to Elmer E Oaks and Lula May Huffman Oaks in Duenweg Missouri, moving to Oklahoma at an early age. Born into this union were 4 children Viola, Martin, Ernie and Nona May.

She married Jim L. Tewell on Aug.10.1935 in Winfield Ks. To this union ,3 daughters were born Lolita Chaney, Barbara Chaney, and Norma Brown . Viola and Jim celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2002. Jim passed away June 8th 2003. Viola continued to live at their home in the Osage. She is survived by two daughters Lolita Chaney and Norma Brown and her husband Otis of Ponca City, and son in law, Euel Chaney and his wife, Beverly, of Healdton, Oklahoma.

Also survived by 6 grandchildren, Danny Chaney his wife Candy, Lori Ann Chaney,Benny Chaney his wife Debbie, Bambi Womack her husband Terry, Bobby Chaney and his wife, Mary, and Missy Ratliff and her husband Mike 8 great grandchildren, Damon Chaney, Mindy Chaney, Jake Ratliff, Jaysen Ratliff, Cerena Chaney, Luke Womack, Dylan Chaney, Brook Womack and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren, Preston Chaney, Reagan Mackey, and Jaden Mackey her dog, Polli, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Viola was a long time member of Osage Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Viola loved to attend Brother Mikes Gospel Jubilee on Saturday evenings. She adored all of her kids in her life. She always looked forward to attending their games, recitals, plays, trips and dinner out. She enjoyed reading her Bible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lula Oaks, two brothers, Martin and Earnie, and her baby sister, Nona May, one daughter, Barbara, one soninlaw, Gerald Chaney, and her husband, Jim.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Osage Heights Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Graber. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City.
