Nellie Ellen Taylor died early Thursday, May 30, 2013. She was 84 years old. Nellie was born at her parents' home in Cobb, OK on July 25, 1928, the second child of Grady and Ona (Kenner) Pigg.

She attended a "country school" in Rock Creek, OK, and often laughed that she started at age four because her older brother would not go without her.
In school, Nellie excelled at athletics. She participated in track and field in pole jump. This athleticism continued into her adulthood. She was active in water jogging, walking and bike riding.

On June 22, 1948, Nellie married Elton Taylor in Sherman, TX and made their first home together in Coleman, OK. They farmed there until a tornado destroyed their crops several years later. Soon after, they followed other relatives to make a new home in Ponca City, OK.
Nellie was happy to be a stay at home mother. But being a homemaker never meant she did not work. She made all of her daughter's clothes, plus clothing for many others in the Ponca City area. Nellie was very creative. She created her own patterns for the garments she made. This creativity was also active in her gardening skills. She could get any plant to grow, but was very fond of daylilies.

She loved her family dearly, dotting on her three grandchildren and their spouses. She was especially thrilled by her expanding group of great grandchildren.

Nellie is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sharon and Marvin Clark, three grandchildren and their spouses, Kelsey and Leslie Clark, Amory and James Butler, Brady and Damon Tracy; her precious great grandchildren, Isabella Grace Clark, Jamie Joellen and Jenna Beth Butler, James Elton and Damona Joy Tracy. Nellie has two surviving sisters, Ruby Krebbs of Folsom, OK and Anna Burss of WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel. Graveside Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 3rd, 2013 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Larry Metzger of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
