Lena Faye Corkey Stewart, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was 80 years of age.

Corkey was born January 21, 1931 in Moran, Texas, the daughter of Bill Brewer and Mattie Walker Brewer. Corkey was a nickname given to her when she was very young and has been with her ever since. She had a good sense of humor that went along with her name. She grew up and attended the Albany, Texas schools. She was married to John Paul Jay Stewart on July 21, 1963 in Pampa, Texas. Mr. Stewart preceded her in death on April 4, 2011.

Corkey was a member of Northeast Baptist Church. Everyone at Northeast has been so special to her family and one of her big promises was to be sure and let people know how important God is in their lives and how wonderful her Christian friends are. She would say see you wonderful people on the other side and God bless. She found and accepted the Lord when she was 13 years of age and also kept her family active in the life of the church. Most of her family is on the other side and there will be a great rejoicing, probably a party that will have lots of talking and loving. She was best known for her gift of kindness and sharing with others. She loved her Lord, family and friends.

She is survived by one great grandson, Colton Gaston of Canada grandson Bryan Gaston granddaughter, Stacy Wickersham soninlaw Mel Gaston one sister, Dorothy Smith.
