Wanda Pauline Smitty Smith, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 83.

Wanda was born April 23, 1925 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Harrison Smith and Bessie Marie Blankenship Smith. She attended the Braman Elementary School and graduated from Maud High School in 1943. She completed course work at St. Josephs School of Nursing in 1947. Wanda was a longtime Registered Nurse and had worked for Dr. Bob Gibson at the Gibson Clinic most of her nursing years. Her enjoyments included the love of the outdoors, helping others in a time of need and in earlier years, traveling. Wanda had a heart of gold and a fun loving personality and will truly be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Walter Smith and wife, Judy, Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews that include Carrie Lepper, Manhattan Beach, California, Richard Alan Smith, Plano, Texas, and Nancy Sue Smith Woods, Depew, Oklahoma; her brother Orville's wife, Hazel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lois Adams and one brother,Orville Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Blaine Herron of the Foursquare Gospel Church presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
