December 17, 1945 - November 17, 2018

Melvin Lloyd Shupe, 72, longtime resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away November 17, 2018 at the Perry Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma.

A grave side service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Ponca City under the direction of Pastor Jarvis Cannon. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Perry.

Melvin was born on December 17, 1945 to Melvin Nathaniel and Norma Jean Shupe in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He grew up in Newkirk and was a graduate of Newkirk High School in 1964 where he participated in band. From there he took his love for band and attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College. Later he continued his education at Oklahoma Banking and Business school.

On November 5, 1966, he and Mary Jo Deken were married in Perry, Oklahoma. The family resided in Meadow Park Estates, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Following the footsteps of his father, Melvin was employed with Evans & Associates from 1967 to 2005. Woodworking was a favorite past time throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Nathaniel and Norma Jean Shupe, and one son Kevin Ray Shupe.

Melvin is survived by two children, Kristy Paiboon and husband, Chip of Bedford, TX, and Melvin Lloyd Shupe, Jr. of Cleveland, OK; one brother, Robert Shupe and wife, Denise of Newkirk, OK; two nephews, Barrett Shupe and wife, Jodie of Cushing, OK, and Brett Shupe and wife, Misty of Newkirk, OK; four grandchildren, Connor, Carson and Colby Paiboon of Bedford, TX, and Ethan Shupe of Tulsa, OK; and several great nephews and nieces.
