Bernice Louise (Keeler) Selvey

Bernice Louise (Keeler) Selvey, resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 71.

Bernice was born on March 10, 1937 on a farm west of Fairfax, Oklahoma daughter of Chester Otis Keeler and Esta Martha (Murrell) Keeler. She was raised in both Fairfax and Burbank Oklahoma. She attended Burbank Schools until junior high and then went to Ponca City Schools where she graduated with the 1956 class.

On October 31, 1955, she was married to Edward L. Selvey Sr. in Guthrie, Oklahoma by a woman judge named Mildred Patterson. She was employed at Furr's Cafeteria for 15 years until health issues caused her to retire.

Bernice enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and taking care of her cat, Sally.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years Edward L. Selvey Sr. of the home; four children, Edward L. Selvey Jr. and wife Linda of Colorado, Creig Selvey of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Cindy Headrick and Husband Lee, Brad Selvey and wife Angie of Ponca City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Luke Garrison, Trina Selvey, Kyle Selvey , Gabby Hellman, and Sydney Selvey all of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two great grandkids, Nicholas Johnson and Jesilyn Johnson both of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Violet Ross of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Phyllis Hamill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Millard, Don and Duane Keeler; and one sister, Loretta Rankin.

Casket bearers for the service will be Jeremy Johnson, Luke Garrison, Mick Keeler, Christopher Ryan, Bart Kling and Doug Long.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Sunset Baptist Church with Reverend Daniel Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Sunset Baptist Church, 915 Greenwood Ave., Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.

The family will receive visitors at Cindy's home, 1500 Blackard Lane, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74604.
