February 9, 1948 - July 25, 2019

John Schultz, 71, lost his battle with cancer on July 25, 2019.

John was born on February 9, 1948 in Perry, Oklahoma. He grew up in Billings, Oklahoma. He graduated from Billings High School in 1966. After a semester at NOC in Tonkawa, he was drafted into the Unites States Army for the Vietnam War. He served his country from December 1967 - July 1969.

Upon his release from the Army, he lived and worked in Enid, Oklahoma from 1969 to 1982. He met the love of his life, Becky, and they were united in marriage on May 20, 1972. They were happily married for 47 years. John worked as a repairman at Pillsbury from 1972 to 1982. He and his wife moved their family to Ponca City in 1982 where he was employed at Conoco as a operator/repairman for 27 years (1982-2009).

John was a man with many interests, hobbies, and talents. He loved wood working and hunting with their sons and anything pertaining to music. In his later years he pursued leather working, gardening, camping, cooking, playing board games with his grandkids, and playing pitch with friends. It was on his bucket list to get his first car, a 1957 Chevy, up and running. In May of this year, with his son's leadership and the help of friends and family, he saw this dream come to life.

He is survived by his wife, Becky, sons, Brandon, Cory and wife, Jeri, and Clayton and wife, Afton, daughter, Samantha and husband, Rod Wohl, and grandchildren, Hannah Guinn, Eli Wohl, Ian Wohl, Abbie Schultz, and Brooklynn Schultz.

John was preceded in death by his parents, May and Harry E. Schultz, brothers, Harry Ray Schultz, Roy Schultz and Cleo Schultz, sisters, Rodena Pelnar and Katherina Hudgens, and brothers-in-law, Roy DeBoard and Lloyd Hudgens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601.

A graveside ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 10 am at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
