August 10, 1929 - May 11, 2018

Marilyn Rose Robins, long time resident of Ponca City, died Friday, May 11, 2018. She was 88. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m., Asbury United Methodist Church (700 West Liberty, Ponca City, Oklahoma) with the Reverend April Coates officiating. Services are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Marilyn was born on August 10, 1929 in Garber, Oklahoma to George Robert Ferguson and Lydia Christine (Blaser) Ferguson. She received her education locally, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1946. On October 12, 1946 she married the love of her life, Clyde L. Robins at the Prairie Chapel Methodist Church. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary shortly before Clyde’s passing in 2005. The happy couple made their home here in Ponca City. In the early years of their marriage, the family moved around to cities where Clyde held employment. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church since 1956. She played the organ for the church for 60 years and was also a long time Sunday school teacher. Marilyn was diligent in helping raise funds for the Child Development Center being a member of the committee. Marilyn was gracious and kind, often thinking of others and their needs before her own. She loved watching the OU Sooners play as well as the Oklahoma City Thunder. Marilyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved watching her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She and Clyde also fostered five girls over the years. Marilyn enjoyed playing board games and card games with the family on Friday nights. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory five daughters: Teresa Herson and husband Paul of Karachi, Pakistan, Janet Timmerman and husband Dean of Ponca City, Beverly Floyd and husband Mike of Tonkawa, Kristi Pitzer of Edmond, and Lisa Stover and husband Robert of Ponca City; fifteen grandchildren: John Herson, Mark and Lori Herson, Adam and Leslie Stark, Robin and John Hopkins, Kerri and Don Ealey, Brian and Becky Floyd, Amber and Mike Hovey, Shane and Julia Floyd, Joshua and Cathy Floyd, David Pitzer, Kurt Pitzer, Lydia and Mark Raftery, Jedidiah and Lauren Pitzer, Leah Clegg, and Jennifer Stover; twenty-seven great grandchildren: Ellie, Kierstyn and Cameron Sims, Kameron, Kody, Kylie, Braeden, Tiffany, Travis, Garrett, Grace, Dalton, Kaitlyn, Dakota, Shala, Gage, Wyatt, Jesse, Brydnen and Kate Pitzer, Joseph, Joshua, James Titus, Vance, Luke, Charlie, Henry, Savannah, and Addysen; three great-great grandchildren: Sheridyn, Vincent, Junalie and one future great-great granddaughter to be born soon, Marilyn. Several nieces and nephews, as well as brother-in-law Floyd Robins and wife Carolyn of Ponca City.

Marilyn is now reunited with her husband, Clyde Robins, her parents George and Lydia Ferguson, one sister, Georgia Barry, granddaughter Ann Marie Herson, and son-in-law, Joe Pitzer in heaven.

If you wish to send flowers, the family would appreciate it. If you would rather donate to a worthy cause in her name, the family asks that you choose the Asbury United Methodist Church of Ponca City.
