Helen Faye Rhodes, 93, of Shidler, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Fairfax Manor.

Helen was born on July 25, 1919 in Gracemont, OK to Henry E. and Lora (Beaty) Bertling. She was the 5th Daughter born. She grew up in Gray Horse and in 1938 graduated from Fairfax High School. On February 28, 1939, she was married to Gilbert Rhodes in Tecumseh, OK. Helen was employed by Hammer’s Grocery in the LEP community. She was a homemaker and wonderful mother who enjoyed ceramics, sewing, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen was an active member of the First Christian Church where she taught Vacation Bible School, attended Bible Studies and was involved with Cookson Hills Church Camp.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; RaMona Collins and Jeannie Neeley, four sisters; Clara Anderson, Juanita Duke, Edna Moch and Ethel Webb.

Helen is survived by a daughter-Viris (VI) Harmon of Ponca City, Grandchildren; Donna Mason and her husband Larry and their family of Corinth, TX. Kay Majors and Daughter of Leander, TX, Joe Harmon and his wife Joy and family of Ponca City, Kristi Logan and husband Tony and family of Wichita, KS, Terry Harmon of Ponca City and Ayelet Elnecave and husband Danny of Jerusalem, Israel and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the First Christian Church of Shidler, OK with Rev. Doug Scott and Pastor George Weston officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery of Ponca City. Casket Bearers will be; Richard Hammer, Rick Hammer, J.J. Gullic, Joe Harmon, Larry Mason and Donald Collins. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Dr. James Graham and George Weston.
