Ressie Kuxhaus Nelson, former resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Sun City, California near her daughters home. She was 92.

Ressie was born March 29, 1917 at Okeene, Oklahoma, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Nusz. She resided in Ponca City from 1953 to 2008. She owned and operated Wimpys and The Pioneer Grill for several years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karol Ressie Petty; grandchildren, Rick Petty of Ponca City and Jane Groves of Las Vegas, Nevada; two great grandchildren, Heather and Courtney; her sister, Beverly Nelson of Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; her husband, Mike Nelson and son, Ronnie Kuxhaus.

Ressie will be remembered as a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Viewing will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 29th at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the First Lutheran Church, 1101 North 4th. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
