James Ray Mayse, Ponca City resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2007. He was 71.

A service will be held at 10am on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 in the chapel of the Trout Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Chace, officiating. The family will greet friends at Trout on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.

James Ray Mayse was born 1-9-36 in Pawnee Ok. He was the son of Jim & Letha (Forbes) Mayse. He attended school and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1954. James joined the Army in December 1954 and was in the 101st Airborne Division. On February 10, 1956 he married Roylene Gadberry in Pawnee. James then served a 2 year tour of duty in Germany and was honorably discharged in June 1958.

He owned a contract trucking company and for many years he and his wife drove trucks for many different companies. James started a contract welding company in 1972 and made grain buggies for John Deere and United Farm Tools in Tonkawa.

In 1990 he started working construction and established a cattle and farming operation from which he retired in 2003.

James enjoyed being outdoors. Over the years he has raised many outstanding coon dogs and bobcat dogs that he used to hunt. He spent a lot of time hunting and fishing over the years.

Since retiring, he has cut down a small forest trying to keep his wife in plenty of firewood for her fireplace which was a great pleasure for both of them.

He is survived by his wife of the home, a daughter, Marla and husband, Brad Irons of Ponca City; and a son, Jim Mayse also of Ponca City. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shane Mayse, Tyler Mayse, Lindsey Mayse, Cameron Irons, Brady Irons, Brandun Irons and wife, Missy, and his great-granddaughter, Haylee Irons. Also surviving are three sisters; Carol Jean Warren and husband, Roscoe of Derby KS., Louise Kistler of Pawnee OK, and Doris Smith of Ponca City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

The family will be at Brad and Marla Irons. 53 S. 8 mile Rd, Ponca City.

Roylene Annetta Mayse, resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012, at her residence. She was 74. She was affectionately known by her friends and family as “Ro”. The service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Trout Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Tom Howard, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, October 29, 2012 from 8:00 am-8:00 pm and Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 8:00 am- 8:00 pm.

Ro was born on January 17, 1938 to Roy Gadberry and Opal (Jackson) Gadberry in Boatman, Oklahoma. She was married to James Mayse on February 10, 1956 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. For the first several years of marriage she and James owned their own contract trucking company. She was very proud of the fact that she drove her own truck. In 1972 she began working for Evans & Associates, retiring there in 2000. she was a founding member of Professionals Today and held numerous offices there including Cook Off Chairman and past President. She was a board member for Peachtree Landing and very involved in those activities.

She is survived by her daughter, Marla Irons and husband Brad of Ponca City, OK; Son, Jim Mayse and significant other Emily Thompson. Grandchildren; Shane and Ann Mayse, Tyler Mayse and friend Ashlee Greenwood, Cameron Irons, Brady Irons all of Ponca City; Lindsey and Mitch Matthiesen of Bartlesville, OK, and Brandon Irons. Great Grandchildren, Haylee and Colt Irons, Mea Matthiesen, and Aydan James Mayse. One sister, Marle Kubrak of Harrah, OK, one brother, JC Gadberry of Stringtown, OK.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters.

Family will be gathered at the family’s house at 53 S. 8 mile Road, Ponca City, OK 74604.
