Theda Louise “Mickey” Walters Jackson passed away to be with her Lord on Monday, October 2, 2017. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully slipped away from this world. She was 94 years old. Theda was born on December 1, 1922 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of Curtis Walters and Lula Horton Walters. Curtis Walters died in 1922. Clark DeMoss married Lula in 1925 and immediately became Theda’s Daddy.

Theda married Elton Leonard “Jack” Jackson on July 20, 1942 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. While he was serving in the Army during World War II, Theda worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Tinker Air Force Base. Following the war, they made their home in Ponca City and raised three children.

Theda “Mickey” worked in the Payroll Department at Conoco for 33 years, until her retirement. She was a very active member of Ranch Drive Baptist Church since 1958, serving in many positions. She dearly loved her church family and serving the Lord in any capacity she could.

She is survived by two daughters and her favorite son: Ginger Coats of Hughes, Arkansas; Tom Jackson and wife Rita of Burnet, Texas; and Phyllis Lucas of Ponca City; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; and her dog-grandchild, Annie.

Theda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Maxine Tarlton; and two brothers, William DeMoss and Roger DeMoss.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ranch Drive Baptist Church, 2985 South Ranch Drive, Ponca City at 2:00 Saturday, October 7, 2017. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. Scott and Chad Jackson, two of Theda’s grandsons, will officiate. Theda will be available for viewing at Trout Funeral Home, 505 West Grand Ave. in Ponca City, on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends at the visitation on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Casket Bearers will be: Dacy Jackson, Damon Garner, Danny Coats, Darren Goodman, Derek Coats, Dudley Barnwell, Dustin Jackson, and Jacob Coats.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Clyde Roland, Dinty Hunt, Jeff Coats, John Sisney, Max Tarlton, Melissa Sisney, Jerry Graber, and Ronnie Tarlton.

Special thanks are given to Dudley Barnwell and Melissa Sisney, members of her extended family, for helping the family through a very difficult time.
