Gary Lee Higgins, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away October 9, 2015 at his home. He was 66 years of age.

Gary was born April 19, 1949 in Hominy Oklahoma, the sixth of nine children born to Betty Maine Huse and Billy Eugene Higgins.

Gary fell in love and married his high school sweetheart Linda Hoogendoorn on February 12, 1968 in Newkirk with the couple making their home in Ponca City ever since. Gary went to McCord Elementary, East Junior High and Ponca City Senior High.

Gary worked for 7Up Bottling Company in the late 60's, then went to work for the Ponca City Street Department on September 1, 1968, retiring from the Street Department on March 31, 2014. Gary and his family also did odd jobs in the community such as tree trimming/removal and hauling hay. He was Owner/Operator of Higgins Hauling, where he started working with his dad in the 60's and later taking the business over when his dad fell ill. Gary took much pride in taking care of his customers. Gary was an Honorary Member of the K-9 Dog Training Club.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and camping with his family. Gary also enjoyed evenings at the casino, drinking the free coffee. Gary also enjoyed his time with his brother Jack. Gary was a great provider, role model, husband and father.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda of the home, daughter Angie Higgins Lippard and husband Troy Lippard of Enid OK, son Gary G. Higgins of Medford Oklahoma; Four Grandchildren, Brady Lippard, Haylee Wesolowski, Whitney Maple and Makayla Higgins; three great grandchildren, Landon Lippard, Brooklynn Lippard and Ryder Higgins; brother Jack Higgins and his wife Kay, of Ponca City Oklahoma, brother Donnie Higgins of McAlister Oklahoma, sister's Barbara Moore, Fairview, Oklahoma and Pat Miller, Alameda, California; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary is proceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, Carol Jordan and Charlene Higgins and two brothers, Gene Higgins and Billy Ray Higgins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Osage Heights Baptist Church, 142 Tapp Rd Ponca City, Oklahoma with Pastor Harold Hutchins presiding. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are: Billy Higgins, Jackie Higgins, Brady Lippard, Kurt Bishop, Jeremy Hoogendoorn and Kelly Vanzandt and Dan Stall.
