Linda Mae Miner Hays, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Ponca City. She was 60 years of age.

Linda was born July 19, 1953 in Clinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Leroy Miner and Veta Mae Harris Miner Holmes. She was a 1971 graduate of Ponca City High School and completed cosmetology school at the Ponca City Beauty College.

She had been employed at various beauty shops in Ponca City before opening her own salon, Hair by Hays in 1990, where she continued working until her passing. She also had a strong relationship with many of her patrons, treating them as friends and not just patrons. Linda was the ultimate team mom with her son, nieces, nephews and others.

In earlier years Linda enjoyed water skiing and horseback riding, and was a former Marland RoundUp Club Queen. She also enjoyed hunting, reading and sewing. Linda was a member of the Ponca City Junior Rifle Club where she was an instructor the National Rifle Association, Oklahoma Rifle Association and various other shooting organizations. She was a Distinguished Expert Rifle Marksman.

She is survived by her mother, Veta M. Holmes, of Ponca City one son, Michael Hays and wife Amberly Ann, of Ponca City one granddaughter, Lilyann Mae Hays one brother, Steven Miner and one sister Rhonda Miner numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Leroy Miner her stepfather, A.C. Holmes and 2 infant brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joseph Waylon Pendleton presiding. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casket bearers are Michael Hays, Russell Sentel, William Miner, Jim Barnett, Randy Dailey, Clarke Estes, Don Roy and John Steele.
