Kathryn Ellen Kitty Hansen, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 93 years of age.

Kitty was born March 10, 1920 at Stockertown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Marcus Sandt and Carrie Rebecca Abel Sandt. She attended elementary school at Stockertown and two years of High School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

It was during World War II that she met Andrew O. Hansen Jr. and was later married to him on September 9, 1944 in Stockertown. During the war she worked days at a grocery store and nights at Binney Smith Crayola factory.

In the spring of 1945 the couple moved to Kansas City, Kansas where they raised two sons. She was then employed by Mode ODay Dress Shop. When her husband retired Kitty worked for Continental Oil Co. Conoco. In 1972 she was transferred to Ponca City and worked 15 years in the retail credit department, retiring on March 30, 1985.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served many years. She had various positions in the Primary and Relief Society, consultant in the Genealogy Family History Library, several positions on the Stake Board, was a temple worker and visiting teacher. Kathryn enjoyed many hobbies that included gardening, crocheting, various crafts and spending time with children.

She is survived by her two sons, Gregory E. Hansen and wife Cathy, of Gardner, Kansas, and Jeffrey L. Hansen and wife Brenda, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma three grandchildren, Angela Hansen, Casey Hansen and Kyle Hansen two great grandchildren, Annalisa Hansen and Emily Hansen numerous other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband four brothers, Freeman Tilgham Sandt, Charles Abel Sandt, Floyd Franklin Sandt and George Jacob Sandt three sisters, Esther Mae Sandt, Virgil Irene Sandt and Henrietta Elizabeth Sandt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2408 East Hartford with Bishop Skip Jump presiding. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
