Billie Dean Ellis, Ponca City resident, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. She was 78 years of age.

The graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City, OK with Pastor Bob Weaver, minister of Pioneer Christian Church, officiating and Pastor Bill Nunley, assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Billie was born on December 12, 1928 in Blackwell, OK to Lester Sherrill and Eula B. (Staten) Sherrill. She attended Blackwell Schools. After school she resided in Blackwell for many years until moving her family to Alva, OK and then Chickasha. While she was in Chickasha Billie loved volunteering at the Cornerstone Church caring for the homeless. In her later years she moved back to northern Oklahoma where she made her home in Ponca City, OK.

Billie enjoyed reading and bingo but most of all she loved taking care of her grandkids. She was a member of the women of the Moose.

She is survived by her children: Susan Anderson and husband Larry of Ponca City, Sherrill Meyer and husband Kenny of Alva, Mike Ellis of Claremore, Robby Ellis and wife Lauren of Chickasha, and Kim Crowell of Ponca City; grandchildren: Kelle Jacobsen of Pawnee, Robby Mavity of Ponca City, Jeremy Johnson and wife Misty of Alva, Chris Ellis and wife Melissa of Norman, Kacie McKnight and husband Marty of Claremore, Ryan Ellis and wife Andrea of Medford, and Taylor Ellis of Chickasha, Gavin Featherstone of Pauls Valley; and great-grandchildren: Dillon Olson of Pawnee, Jordan Jacobsen of Pawnee, and Tyler McKnight of Claremore.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Betty.

Casketbearers will be Robby Mavity, Christ Ellis, Jeremy Johnson, Ryan Ellis, Marty McKnight and Gavin Featherstone.

Honorary casketbearers will be Kelle Jacobson, Kacie McKnight, Dillon Olson, Tyler McKnight, Jordan Jacobson and Taylor Ellis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Church, 125 W. Chickasha Ave., Chickasha, OK 73018.
