Ed Davis, long-time resident of Shidler, Oklahoma, entered Heaven's gates on March 16, 2018. He was 83 years old.

Carol Edward “Ed” Davis was born on February 9, 1935, to parents Walter and Dorothy Eve Luna Davis, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. His family moved to Shidler when he was 3, and he graduated from Shidler High School in 1954. He married Cleora Joyce Shelton Davis, on November 21, 1956 at the 1st Baptist Church in Shidler. Ed was an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Shidler acting as the moderator of his church when they were without a pastor. He and his wife, Joyce, served as youth directors and enjoyed taking the kids to Falls Creek for youth camp. He found work in the oil fields, and eventually as a Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor for Shidler Public Schools. He drove the Shidler Tiger Activity Bus for many years. Ed was a gifted mechanic and helped numerous people within his community. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cutting wood with his son-in-laws and grandsons.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jeremiah Dean Gratias, sister Wanda Brown, sister Rowena Rhodes, sister Irene Hill, brother James Davis, sister June Walker, and sister Pauline Baker.

He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Davis of Shidler, OK, his daughter Carol Davis Gratias and her husband Dean of Ponca City, OK, his daughter Pamela Davis Payne and her husband Al of Ponca City, OK, and his sister-in-law June Bowker of Shidler, OK, sister-in-law Micki Davis of Shidler, and brother-in-law Bob Brown of Shidler, grandchildren, Joy Murff, Eric Payne and his wife Randi, and 5 great-grandchildren, Brittany Sharp, Breanna Murff, Clayton Murff, Hailee Samples, and Cash Day, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 8am-8pm at Trout Funeral Home and Crematory in Ponca City. A funeral ceremony to gratefully remember his life will be held at 2pm, Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the 1st Baptist Church in Shidler, with Pastor Albert Plumley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Ponca City. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Casketbearers will be Dean Gratias, Al Payne, Eric Payne, David Rhodes, Link Cotham, and Jimmy Hawkins. Honorary casket bearers are Dean Crain and Gene Smith.

In lieu of Flowers, contributions in Ed's memory may be made to First Baptist Church, 448 S Gyspy St, Shidler, OK 74652.
