September 3, 1936 - February 25, 2020

James Stephen Brown, 83, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020. A Rosary Ceremony will be held at 5:30 PM, Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Zachary Boazman officiating. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park immediately following the service. Arrangements are under the dirction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

James was born on September 3, 1936 in Alva, Oklahoma, to Leo James and Catherine Elizabeth (Shea) Brown. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He was a hard worker and spent time as the City Manager for Alva, OK. He was also the Director of Public Works for Ponca City. Jim was an entrepreneur, owning and working his refuse company until his death.

He enjoyed golf, camping, going to the lake and swimming in the backyard pool. He was an athlete and loved sports. Jim was an avid OSU fan and very proud to be a graduate of the college. He was very supportive of his children's goals and was determined to help them succeed; driving the motor home to their sporting events and enjoying college sports as well.

Jim led by example. He had a great devotion to God and his family and was very faithful in the church; having only missed one mass during the past 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Brown, of the home; children, Treasa Lloyd of Ponca City, OK, Steve Brown and his wife, SuZanne DeLaurentiis, of Studio City, CA, Ken Thomas and his wife, Vida, of Ponca City, OK, Mike Brown and his wife, Carmen of Lake Balboa, CA, Darrel Thomas and his wife, Lori Wood of Kansas, OK, Brandon Brown and his wife, Heather of Coppell, TX; grandchildren, Jesse Lloyd, Christopher Brown, Shelby McCoy, Sidney Thomas, Roxanne Pastel, Chelsea Barton, Kenny Ray Thomas, Tatum Brown and Addie Brown; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; sister, Kathleen Reed and her husband, Larry, of Alva, OK and other family members and friends. He was especially fond of his dog, Brownie, who misses him already.

Preceding Jim in death were his parents; daughter, Jan Brown; siblings, Helen Culp, Elaine Russell, and Edward Brown.

Casketbearers will be Jesse Lloyd, Christopher Brown, Kenny Ray Thomas, Larry (Bub) Harrison Jr, Luke Short, Brandon DeNoya, Max Walker Honorary Casketbearers will be Larry Harrison, Mel Knight, Lonnie Massey, Bill Hill.
