Roy Steve Kelley Sr., a longtime resident of Ponca City who was residing and working in American Canyon, Calif., died Aug. 12, 2007, in American Canyon. He was 57.

Roy was born Jan. 21, 1950, in Ponca City, the son of Glenn Kelley and Maude Ward Kelley. He attended schools in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1968. He married Debby Fair on Feb. 24, 1968, along with their two kids, Steve and Kimmy, and they made their home in Ponca City. He later attended Northern Oklahoma College and the University of Oklahoma, completing his bachelor's degree in business. He was a firefighter in Stillwater prior to returning to Ponca City and had been employed as the manager of Construction Safety with ConocoPhillips for 38 years. He was also a reserve deputy sheriff for the Osage County Sheriff's Office.

Roy was a loyal and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He devoted his entire life to our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a proud member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Ponca City where he served as a lay-leader of the church, loving to preach his sermons to the congregation.

He loved to fish, hunt and attempt to beat his son in the game of golf. He also volunteered his time for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Roy played an active role in starting and operating the McCord Volunteer Fire Department as the fire chief. He enjoyed getting into his Santa Claus Suit as he brought joy and happiness to all that believed in the spirit of Christmas.

Survivors include his wife, Debby of Ponca City; one son, Steve and his wife Lori of Tonkawa; one daughter, Kimberly Knight and her husband Lester of Ponca City. He has three grandchildren, Chelsie, Tyler and Elizabeth, along with a devoted father-in-law, Delbert Fair, and mother-in-law, Joy Fair, whom he adored. He left behind numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews who were always in his heart and prayers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Maude Kelley; one brother, Dennis Kelley; and one sister, June Farris.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darrell Hardy presiding, assisted by the Rev. Lisa Crone. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers will be Steve Kelley Jr., Lester Knight, Delbert Fair, Kevin Fair, Nathan Fair and Gil Williams. Honorary casket bearers will be Ty Koch, Charlie Cartwright and Willie Hargraves.
