Stanley Eugene Hinshaw
March 22, 1940 - January 19, 2025
Stanley E. Hinshaw (Stan), 84, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in Frisco, TX due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Stan will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved God and his family and put others first.
Stan was born on March 22, 1940, in Ponca City, OK to E.S. and Lucile Frans Hinshaw. He attended first grade at Lincoln Elementary before moving to Bartlesville, OK in 1947. There he attended Highland Park Elementary, Central Junior High School, and graduated from College High School in May 1958. He then attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Education with a major in Electronics on January 19, 1963. He received his pilot's license in July 1962 and participated with the OSU Flying Aggies Club.
After graduation, Stan was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery on January 19, 1963. He entered active duty the following May for Missile Officer Training, and proudly served with Battery C, 5th Missile Battalion as an Executive Officer and Commander of the Nike Air Missile Site in Dillsboro, IN. Stan left active duty in May 1965 and remained on Reserve Duty until retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1990.
On July 19, 1963, Stan married Elizabeth (Betty) Palmer, daughter of Benn & Elizabeth Palmer in Bartlesville, OK, and moved to Aurora, Indiana. In June 1965, having a desire to be closer to family, they moved back to Oklahoma following his time on active duty and resided in Ponca City where they raised their four children. Stan was employed in the Electronics Group of Conoco's Research Services Division working in Research & Engineering until his retirement in June 1996. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working at Trout Funeral Home. He loved serving and offering comfort to those going through grief.
Stan and Betty were charter members of Northeast Baptist Church, served on numerous committees, and he was an ordained Deacon. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, several Canadian provinces, and was honored to serve in a Missions Outreach in Mexico. One highlight of his travels was the opportunity to visit the Holy Lands on a tour with his church alongside his brother, Kenneth. He was in awe of the history and beauty he experienced following in Jesus' footsteps. After more than 42 years of marriage, Stan's wife Betty passed away. Eventually, he was married to his second wife, Linda James, for the final 17 years of his life.
Stan was a Lifetime Member of the Oklahoma State Alumni Association, a member of the Family Motor Coach Association, Monaco Coach Association and the Pioneer Genealogical Society. He is survived by his wife Linda of Mansfield, TX; daughter, Wendy Wilson (& Steve) of Frisco, TX, son Don (& Paula) Hinshaw of Tulsa; daughter Tammy Staiger (& Dustin) of Prosper, TX; daughter Deanna Hinshaw (& Tonya Shaw) of Ponca City; grandchildren Ryan Wilson (& Katelyn) of Tulsa, OK; Curt Wilson of Prosper, TX; Tyler Wilson (& Michelle) of Dallas, TX; Abbie Staiger of Austin, TX; Grant Staiger of Denton, TX; Derek Staiger of Prosper, TX; great granddaughters Ava Wilson (Tulsa) and Elena Wilson (Dallas); brother Kenneth Hinshaw of Crowley, TX; sister Reta Vance (& Doyle) of Tulsa, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
